Why DiskWipe
Hard disk sanitization.

In response to recent publicity regarding personal hard disc security risks and an obsesion for digital security myself I have launched a new service called "DiskWipe" for both personal and business PC users. We wipe and smash hard disks.

Data such as confidential documents, medical records, passwords, address books, work documentation, accounts and credit card numbers are just a few of the items that reside on personal computers. Erasing, formatting and partitioning does not erase this data and the act of "deleting" simply removes information on how to locate the file on your drive, but not file itself.

As a personal security measure it is reccomended that any hard disk be wiped clean prior to being discarded, sold, or donated. In this way personal data cannot get into the hands of those who will abuse it. "DiscWipe" will give you the confidence to dispose of your home computer safely, once wiped the hard disk can be returned to you if required or disposed of for you in a responsible fashion. Either way, DiskWipe issues a certificate confirming the process undergone for each order placed.

Data recovery from salvaged hardware is a known, obvious, easily executed and effective attack vector for identity theft, recently reported as the most popular crime on the internet. With the correct software and a few acquired second hand hard disk drives an attacker can easily recover a vast array of sensitive user information with relative ease. Put simply any information that has ever been stored on a users hard disk drive can be recovered.

DiskWipe services give you the confidence to dispose of your hard disks in a responsible and safe way, we are physically present throughout the process which is key to the protection of your data.
